A thin dental veneer

TU DENTAL · GANGNAM, SEOULNatural-looking veneers,
tailored to your teeth

Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their colour and shape.

Explore whether no-prep veneers may suit your teeth, how veneers differ from whitening and orthodontics, and what to consider about costs, risks and care.

Our approach starts with preserving your natural teeth and planning a smile that complements your face and works with your bite.

Your dentist will assess whether no-prep veneers are suitable for you. Some teeth may need reshaping, or a different treatment may be recommended.

01 / COLOR

I would like a brighter smile

Compare · Whitening and veneers

Whitening lightens natural teeth, while veneers can change both their colour and shape. Think about whether you want a brighter shade, a different shape, or both.

Before deciding

  • Cause of discolouration and existing restorations
  • Expected change with whitening
  • Need for reshaping or preparation
When whitening may be suitable

02 / GAP

I have gaps between my front teeth

Compare · Bonding, veneers and orthodontics

Bonding uses tooth-coloured material applied directly to your teeth; ceramic veneers are made separately and then bonded in place. Your dentist will consider the size and cause of the gap, and how the teeth would look after it is closed, when comparing these options with orthodontic treatment.

Before deciding

  • Cause and size of the gap
  • Tooth proportions after closing the gap
  • Preparation, repair and maintenance

03 / SHAPE

My teeth look uneven in shape or size

Compare · Bonding and veneers

For small chips or unusually small teeth, bonding and veneers may be options. Your dentist will check the tooth structure that remains and plan a shape, length and shade that suit the surrounding teeth.

  • Shape and shade matching
  • Preparation and future repair

04 / ALIGNMENT

My front teeth overlap or stick out

Compare · Orthodontics and veneers

Orthodontic treatment moves teeth and can change your bite. Veneers change the visible front surface. If your teeth overlap or stick out, your dentist will first assess whether they need to be moved.

Before deciding

  • Degree of overlap or protrusion
  • Upper and lower bite
  • Preparation needed to change appearance

01

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth to improve their colour, shape or size. A crown covers more of the tooth. Your dentist will help you choose based on the condition of your teeth and the changes you would like to make.

WHAT

What changes can veneers make?

Veneers may help with discolouration, small chips, uneven shapes or gaps. Your dentist plans their shape and shade to work with the surrounding teeth. Veneers change the visible surface of teeth, while orthodontic treatment moves them into a different position.

HOW

How are veneers fitted and bonded?

Ceramic veneers, including porcelain veneers, are custom-made to the planned shape and shade using impressions or a digital scan. Before bonding them in place, your dentist tries them on your teeth to check the fit, your bite and how well the colour matches your neighbouring teeth. Your bite is checked again after fitting.

NO-PREP

Will my teeth need to be reshaped?

“Prep” refers to reshaping a tooth before fitting a veneer. No-prep and minimal-prep approaches aim to avoid or limit this reshaping. Whether your teeth need preparation, and how much, depends on their position, colour, your bite and the changes you want. No-prep veneers are not suitable for every tooth. Tooth structure that is removed cannot grow back, so ask your dentist to explain the plan for each tooth before treatment.

BEFORE

What will my dentist check first?

Decay and gum disease need to be treated first. Your dentist also checks the remaining tooth structure, your bite, and any grinding or clenching. Veneers may need repair or replacement if they chip or come loose, so regular check-ups and ongoing care are planned alongside treatment.

ZERONATE: designed around your natural teeth

ZERONATE is TU Dental’s premium laminate veneer brand, built on a philosophy of preserving natural teeth. Its vision is to combine near-zero thickness with the health and beauty of ideal natural teeth, while preserving as much of your own tooth structure as possible.

This describes the brand’s approach. Your dentist will assess whether ZERONATE is suitable for you and whether any tooth preparation is needed. Our approach to tooth preservation, design, fabrication and care

03 / WHY TU

Why choose TU Dental for veneers?

When considering veneers, look beyond appearance to tooth preparation, how the veneers are made and aftercare. See how TU Dental applies these principles in practice.

01 / ZERONATE

Preserving your natural teeth

We assess the position, shape and bite of each tooth alongside the changes you want. Your ZERONATE plan may involve no preparation, minimal preparation or selective reshaping.

Your dentist can explain which teeth need preparation and why. Even very thin veneers may require some preparation.

02 / SMILE PREVIEW

Previewing your new smile

See a preview of the proposed shape and proportions before your veneers are made. Discuss the look you want, refine the design with your dentist and choose your shade.

Before-and-after cases can help you explain what you like. Your own result will depend on your teeth and treatment plan.

03 / ZERONATE LAB

Veneers made for your smile

The ZERONATE lab combines digital analysis with the work of a dental ceramist to create your planned shape and shade. Your dentist checks the fit and bite before bonding the veneers in place.

See who makes your veneers, the methods used and what is included in each ZERONATE option.

04 / TU CARE+

Care beyond your final appointment

TU CARE+ provides aftercare for a period that varies by ZERONATE option. Follow-up checks look at your bite, gum health, the bond between each veneer and tooth, and oral hygiene.

Ask what your aftercare includes, any exclusions and any additional fees. The care period does not guarantee how long your veneers will last or include unlimited free retreatment.

Explore the details

The treatment and services provided depend on your individual diagnosis and chosen option.

05 / YOUR TREATMENT JOURNEY

From consultation to ongoing care

ZERONATE treatment at TU Dental begins with an examination and smile preview. Your veneers are then custom-made and fitted, with regular follow-up care after treatment.

  1. 01

    Examination & consultation

Discuss your teeth and the changes you want

Your dentist examines your teeth, reviews panoramic X-rays and dental photos, and discusses the shape and colour you would like. A digital scan helps with planning.

  2. 02

    Smile design & preview

Agree on the shape and shade

Review the proposed shape, proportions and fullness of your smile. Your dentist assesses preparation for each tooth, helps you choose a shade and takes a final digital scan before the veneers are made.

  3. 03

    Making & fitting your veneers

    Check the fit before bonding

The lab makes your veneers to the agreed design. Your dentist tries them on to check the fit, shade, bite and overall appearance before bonding them in place, removing excess adhesive and adjusting your bite.

  4. 04

    Check-ups & aftercare

Keep your teeth and gums healthy

Regular check-ups assess your bite, gums, veneer bonds and oral hygiene. Continue brushing, cleaning between your teeth and attending professional care as recommended by your dentist.

Discuss your appointment schedule in advance

ZERONATE at TU Dental usually involves three visits; some treatment plans may need as few as two. The first visit, including imaging, examination and consultation, takes about two hours. Fabrication takes an average of 10 business days after the design and final digital scan are confirmed. This is not the total time from the first consultation to final bonding. Tooth condition, preliminary treatment, design changes, fabrication and appointment availability can affect the overall schedule. Tell us your preferred completion date at your consultation.

Same-day treatment may be possible in some cases, but suitability depends on your chosen option and individual treatment plan.

I was worried about damaging my teeth

Adapted from the original Korean review

I still had some baby teeth, so my teeth were small and uneven. I had looked into veneers, but my family was worried about possible damage to my teeth and I was hesitant. Then I read a review from someone who had no-prep ZERONATE, and travelled from outside Seoul for a consultation.

At the consultation, I was told that my teeth were suitable for a no-prep approach, which put me at ease. Before bonding, the team also adjusted the shape I was concerned about. I was happy with the result, and everyone was kind from booking through to treatment.

I wanted my upper teeth to match my lower teeth

Adapted from the original Korean review

I only planned to treat my upper teeth, so it was important that the shade worked naturally with my lower teeth. I spent about a month visiting different clinics to see whether they could achieve the colour I wanted, then chose TU Dental.

I liked the pointed shape of my canines and wanted to keep that feature. I also did not want my front teeth to look too prominent. I explained those preferences one by one and was pleased that they were reflected in the design. The upper and lower teeth now match well, and I am happy with how even and natural they look.

My tooth colour bothered me in photos

Adapted from the original Korean review

The alignment of my teeth did not bother me much, but their yellow colour always did. I noticed it whenever I smiled or took photos. I wanted to change the colour, so after a consultation I had ZERONATE fitted to six upper teeth.

When I was researching online, I did not realise how much went into the design. At the consultation, the dentist looked at how much of my teeth showed when I smiled and the look I wanted. The design turned out the way I had hoped. I also got used to the veneers quickly and have been able to enjoy different foods.

Same-day ZERONATE treatment may be possible, depending on your chosen option and the condition of your teeth, but it is not suitable for everyone. Sometimes, yes. Your dentist will check how the two teeth would look alongside the others, including their width, length, colour and how they meet when you bite. Treating more teeth does not necessarily give a more natural result. If your teeth need to move, or two veneers would not give balanced proportions, your dentist will discuss options such as orthodontic treatment before recommending how many teeth to treat.

Read how two-tooth treatment and proportions are assessed ↗

A veneer mainly covers the front of a tooth. A crown covers more of the tooth, including the biting surface, to protect it and restore its function. Veneers may be considered when the tooth is relatively healthy; a tooth with extensive decay or a fracture may need a different restoration. Your dentist will assess the remaining tooth, gums and bite. Having had root canal treatment does not, on its own, determine the right choice.

No-prep veneers are not suitable for every tooth. Your dentist will check the position and colour of your teeth, your bite and the changes you want to assess the thickness and shape of the planned veneers. The same assessment applies to ZERONATE at TU Dental; some teeth may need a small amount of reshaping. Tooth structure that is removed cannot grow back, so ask your dentist whether each tooth needs preparation and how much before starting treatment.

Veneers are a category of treatment using thin restorations bonded to the front of teeth to improve colour and shape. ZERONATE is TU Dental’s premium laminate veneer brand, built on a philosophy of preserving natural teeth. Treatment involves assessing how much natural tooth can be preserved, previewing the shape and proportions, custom fabrication, bonding and regular care. ZERONATE does not always mean no preparation: the need for preparation and its extent are determined by an individual examination.

After veneer treatment, you may experience tooth sensitivity or gum discomfort, and veneers can chip or come loose. Tooth decay and gum disease should be treated first. Your dentist will also consider grinding, clenching or a deep bite when assessing whether veneers are suitable and planning your care. If you have pain, an uncomfortable bite or a loose veneer after treatment, see a dentist to find out what is causing it.

How long veneers last depends on your teeth, the bond, your bite, daily habits and care. Replacement is based on an assessment of the veneers, neighbouring teeth and gums, rather than a fixed number of years. Brush and clean between your teeth regularly, and avoid biting hard objects with your front teeth. Check-ups look for chips, loose veneers, decay and gum problems.

General treatment information: ADA — Veneers

Yes, we can assess existing veneers and discuss whether to keep, repair or replace them. Their age alone does not determine whether replacement is needed. Your dentist will check for chips, looseness, problems around the edges, decay underneath, and any gum or bite concerns. If a veneer needs to be removed, the remaining tooth must be assessed again before confirming the treatment and preparation needed. Please share when the veneers were fitted, the material if known, and when any problems began. The same number of veneers, treatment method or a no-prep approach cannot be guaranteed in advance. If a tooth is significantly weakened, options such as crowns are also considered.
