What does “IPS e.max veneers” mean?
e.max veneers are veneers made with materials from Ivoclar's IPS e.max range. The term combines a material product name with a treatment method.
The distinction after the product name is also important.
IPS e.max CAD and IPS e.max Press are products that use lithium disilicate glass ceramics and have different fabrication methods. CAD is used to machine blocks and Press is used for compression fabrication.
The name e.max alone does not determine the type of restoration. Since the same family of materials is also used for restorations other than veneers, it is important to distinguish which product is used and to what extent.
What the name of the material does not determine
How much tooth reduction is needed, which shade and translucency to use, and how much of the tooth to cover depend on the original dental condition and design. Using a particular material does not guarantee no-prep treatment or a specific lifespan.
Adjustments may need to be made between masking dark-colored underlying teeth and maintaining the natural feel of light passing through. Material selection is part of the process of meeting that requirement.
Check after attachment
We regularly inspect not only the ceramic itself, but also the adhesive border, gums, and bite. When comparing other materials, we compare the remaining tooth tissue, restoration extent, and repairability rather than product recognition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are e.max and ZERONATE the same kind of name?
e.max is the name of a dental material series, and ZERONATE is a brand of TU Dental Clinic. Distinguish between material names and treatment brands to avoid comparing options with the same criteria.
Does using e.max mean I can have no-prep treatment?
It is not determined solely by the name of the material. The extent of preparation required is determined by looking at the position and color of the teeth, the space for the restoration, and the bite.
What is the difference between CAD and Press?
IPS e.max CAD is used for processing blocks, and Press is used for press production. The name of the fabrication method and the shape and thickness of the final restoration must be distinguished.
